after yesterday's list of ace scottish albums, here's a longer list of my favourite albums of the last year. yeah, i know, these lists are boring, repetitive, pointless and compromised by the impossibility of having actually listened to everything the year had to offer, not to mention the illogic of pitching albums of different styles and genres against one another like a screwy game of top trumps. but i've made the list now, so you'll bloody lump it, alright? just be glad i cut it down to 25 - i had it longer to begin with, till i realised i was just including things for the sake of it. for example, arcade fire just missed out on the top 25. is this a travesty? not really - i've not listened to it a massive amount, and think it's pretty good. pretty good don't cut it. i need to have felt rather more strongly about a record to bother listing it here, especially as we've already noted the pointlessness of the whole exercise...
so this isn't a list of every album i liked in 2010. it's not a list of the 'best' albums of 2010. it's a list of my own favourites, a list i'll undoubtedly look back on this time next year with shock and horror as my tastes continue to fluctuate. what a fickle so-and-so i am.
